Life's a Beach

I've been wanting to give our bathroom a real tropical feel instead of just the typical, boring shells it is now. I've been looking around for just the right artwork to make that happen. Then the thought struck... Why not try and paint a tropical scene myself?!?

This is my first landscape. I'm really happy with it, now I just need a frame.

Reserved 4x4

I keep using this same image over and over.
That would be the frugal girl in me. Yes, I said FRUGAL not cheap.

This one was made to fill a personal swap of 5 for 5 chunky pages.

I just realized that this is my 3rd post today! Good art day! Must be the stress...does it everytime.

Game piece charms

I've made 2 sets of charms for a challenge on TheLatestTrendsinMixedMediaArts. I'm hoping I'll be able to swap both sets. You can only have 1 entry for the vote so I'll have to choose. I didn't realize this when I uploaded the pix to the group...opps.

I could use some help deciding which to enter for the vote.... Dice or Bingo?

I am...

I had this idea of doing a page about me yesterday. So I took some close-up pictures of myself. I cropped and played with the colors in Paintshop Pro. I wasn't exactly sure how the page would come together. This is the page that flowed out of me last night.

I was completely stressed about my mom being horribly ill and whether or not she'd be admitted to the hospital (thank the Lord, she was able to just go home). It's been a stressful couple of weeks to be completely honest. I realized that I hadn't been taking care of me...and if I didn't start doing that, I wasn't going to be able to care for anyone else.

Fun kid art project

Okay..I had way more fun than my kiddo on this one. He came home with an assignment to make a vocabulary word poster. The catch was you had to illustrate it in a creative way.
The all school project was based on the book:
Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster by Debra Frasier

Steamin' hot

At my dear hubby's prompting...I added steam to my coffee. It does look better.

Coffee anyone?

A while back I made this "Live, Laugh, Love" sign from a $2 garage sale frame and canvas. I was never satisfied with it. I ripped the flowers off and covered it with gesso. Today I decided that a sign for the kitchen night be fun instead.

I am so much happier about this one than the other.

Digital Challenge

I did some work in PSP today for a digital challenge posted on TheLatestTrendsinMixedMediaArts. It's layers of digital ephemera and a picture taken by my neighbor with some filters thrown in for good measure.

Time to play...

It seems like an eternity since I've had a chance to sit and play in my craft zone. It was refreshing to be free to create. Life has been getting in the way lately. Such is life, right!

The puzzle piece will likely be sent as a postcard. Yes it is that large!

The two altered books spreads are in my "just for fun" book. That book is so fun...no theme, no expectations, only playtime!

House tip-in book

I put together a house theme book with the tip-ins I received from a swap on ABC altered book club plus a couple pages of my own just for fun.

The image on the cover is the Hamm house which has been torn down. I got a book in the free bin at the library. It tell the stories of buildings and places in Minnesota that have been lost due to "progress". I'm not entirely sure but I think the Hamm family is one in the same as the Hamm's beer company...which is also gone. Although, I still can remember the theme song as well as Hamm's bear from the TV ads...I may be aging myself with that declaration.

Cutest thing ever...

Ok so I'm a little bias...
My kiddo will be 8 on Monday. Tonight while eating his chicken tenders he shouts "I lost my tooth!" What..really...where did it go? We got out the flashlight...found lots of crumbs...a few stray wads of paper but no tooth. We are pretty sure it went down the hatch with a bite of chicken.

This is his solution to the problem.
