40 Tea Tuesday

My BFF turns the big 4-0 tomorrow. Since she's across the country from me I decided to SPAM her snail mail box this past week. I'm sure she'll get me back next month when I going the club but its all in good fun. Neither of us are freaking out about 40...it just doesn't seem possible. I feel like I'm 20 something.

I sliced open the side of a water bottle and filled it  with a packet of flowers seeds, a knit dishcloth, crochet scrubbie, a wine cork, confetti, a few fortunes and a note.

The note explained the contents...
In summary it said:
If I were there I'd give her flowers, instead she'll have to plant her own.
If I were there I'd help her clean her house, instead she'll have to have her family to do it for her.
If I were there I'd share a bottle of wine but sorry I drank it.

I also made a series of postcards with little snarky remarks all in jest of course.

I realize this post doesn't really have anything to do with tea... other than the fact that Sandy and I often have a cup of tea and a chat over the phone.

Stop by Kimmie's blog to see some "real" tea posts.

Sweet package and more flowers

Quite a while ago, after posting my Travels handmade book, Margaret asked me if I had an postcards from Switzerland for my collection.
Since I didn't, we decided to do a little trade of items from our areas.
Just look at all the fun items she sent!
I'm really looking forward to using the pretty napkins.

And this postcard is an awesome addition to my collection!
It's very Scandinavian looking...love that!
Have I mentioned that I'm 100% Norwegian!?!

Thank you so much Margaret!

I also wanted to share a couple more bottle cap flowers I made the other day.

They are a fun addition to my garden.

Travels postcard book

This spring I got back into swapping postcards on Swapbot.  Of course, they have other things to swap but I've had the most fun with postcards.

Who doesn't love getting mail, right?!

So what do you do with a big stack of postcards to make them a little more fun...

You make a book!

This one was a great size and had the perfect title.

I made 3 tiny signatures and attached them to the cover with a pamphlet stitch. I used a dry adhesive tape runner on the front side of each of the postcards to "tip" them into the book.

These postcards came from all over the globe...

Such as South Africa

 New Zealand

 Slovakia

And as close as the next state.

Years ago, before starting this blog, I made my first book to hold my postcards.

Kind of a cheesy title....

But I was happy with the the way a bound the signatures as well as attached envelopes to hold some extras.  Good thing too...the pockets are filled to the brim now.

Junk mail postcard

Elizabeth
put forth a challenge on ABC in response to a post about reducing waste while still creating art. She challenged us to create 2 pieces of art using junk mail and scraps only.

I dug in the recycle bin and pulled out a toaster waffle box and some junk mail for this piece. I hoping to make another over the weekend. Although it's supposed to be BEAUTIFUL this weekend so I don't know if I'll be spending much time indoors.

Cards, puzzle, and book..oh my!

I've been saving the wrappers from my chocolate indulgence.
The Chocolove bar is my favorite!

Spring is a busy time for Birthdays aournd here. This is the card I gave to my hubby last week. We are getting to the age that celebrating getting another year closer to middle age isn't anything to celebrate.

I'm planning on ART-ing(act of random thoughtfulness) with the puzzle piece. So it's a secret...SSSHHH!!

Time to play...

It seems like an eternity since I've had a chance to sit and play in my craft zone. It was refreshing to be free to create. Life has been getting in the way lately. Such is life, right!

The puzzle piece will likely be sent as a postcard. Yes it is that large!

The two altered books spreads are in my "just for fun" book. That book is so fun...no theme, no expectations, only playtime!

More Humbugs

I made these late last night but was just too tired to get them posted.

I like these but not nearly as much as my first ones.

BahHumbug postcards

Here is my postcard poking fun at the chaos of some peoples Christmas. I'm glad our family has the "keep it simple" policy. :)

The second one is giving a little jab to some of the clueless husbands out there.

Glad mine isn't one of them. Love you sweetie!
