Gracie kaleidoscope

Just playing around in the digital word a bit.
Using some of my custom brushes along with filters and a kaleidoscope plugin I made this....

from this....

It's my birthday....

another big one!
Time certainly does speed up the more years that go by.

I haven't had some weird mid-life crisis such as wanting to take up sky-diving or get a motorcycle.
No tattoos, although I did dye my hair pink for breast cancer awareness last October.
Later we are going to have
my favorite meal...
SUSHI !!

Crazy eyed girl and gothic arches

It's that time again...  ABC_alteredbookclub is having it's annual anniversary swap. This year the shape & size was put to a vote and Gothic arches won out.
Previous years  have been skinny pages, chunky pages, charms and even my personal favorite...circles!

I've gotten all my arches cut out as you can see. I'm struggling with the paint I used to cover both sides as it has remained slightly tacky. To remedy this I glued dressmakers pattern tissue to the stickiest side. I'll have to come up with some thing to deal with the other side as well but for now I have a workable solution to start with.

See this gal.

I call her the "crazy eyed girl". The scan and subsequent digital work have really subdued the scariness of her eyes from the original photo. You'll be seeing her on my finished arches...hopefully. :)

Photoshop butterfly

Using some custom brushes and actions, I gave my photo a whole new look.

BLAH!

I'm feeling slightly hog-tied.

OK...I've never tied a hog in my life. BUT my scanner isn't playing nicely with my new computer and my sweet, computer nerdy savvy husband hasn't had a chance to deal with it!

I'm totally Jonesin' to do some digital art but without my custom brushes, it really seems pointless.

Digital berries

This digital collage was completed BEFORE my computer died. I lost all my custom brushes at that time.

Of course, I found out later that I had no one to blame but my ignorant self. UGH! I hate it when I screw up. I never permanently saved my custom brushes.

Let this be a lesson to you all!!

Fun with Photoshop

Just playing a little with another macro shot of the tiny little bee I captured with my little Coolpix camera. I'm so impressed with it's macro ability. I sat real still and slowly moved the camera within a few inches of the little bee while he was sipping nectar.

The second image I used some of my custom brushes to create subtle impressions in the background. I absolutely love playing in Photoshop.

Sweet puppy face

Our new neighbors got a puppy. My kids adore her. I was snapping some pictures of the kids with Maizy and caught this cute little face.

I decided to play around a bit and came up with this.

Here's the original photo:

Quite a bit different, huh?!?

Playing in the digital world

I spent more time than I should have today playing in Photoshop.

I created a new background again for this blog.

I also was looking at doing a whole new background without a banner. After trying it out I realized that I really needed the banner since the Welcome to Halle's Hobbies wouldn't scroll out of the way as the banner currently does...duh! I really liked it though so I thought I'd share it anyway.

Dressed up old photo

I came across this photo of my parents that was taken shortly after their wedding.

Mutton chops and a beehive...no mistaking that era!

The photo itself was in pretty poor shape so I figured I'd give it a new life.

Digital flowers

I've been having so much fun making and playing with custom brushes in Photoshop.

The green, red and white image started with a photo I took of a Canna Lily blossom at my folks place last summer. After many layers of brushes and adjustments I got the image you see.

The white flowers and smudges on the surface are a brush I made from this image.

The pink background flower image below started as a macro shot of a poinsettia. Again lots of brushes, layers and adjustments made it look like this.

The top grey image may look vaguely familiar. I made a brush from a photo of the mixed-media painting I did last summer.

New background

I've been doing a lot of digital work lately since most of my supplies are inaccessible. I made new backgrounds for both of my blogs.

I learned how to make my own brushes in Photoshop through a wonderful tutorial that Michele Ward shared on her blog. It has been so much fun making and playing with these new brushes!!
