Tea with Grandma

I missed tea with Kimmie and friends last week...
I just had to make it for tea today.

About this time of year I start to get very sentimental. I'm sure its because the Holidays are right around the corner and that means family and friends...renewing those connections.

So...I'm having tea in spirit with my Grandma. I'm using a cup from her china set and thinking about what it would have been like to actually know her.

I've used her image in many pieces of art over the years.

This one is is quite timely. It is from a set that I sent off for a Somerset Memories challenge. It wasn't one of mine that they actually published but I still really like it!

I think this was the first piece that I used this image on....

I recycled a CD and some denim in this one to make a unique wall hanging or ornament.

Another fun one....

I used so many techniques on this canvas. It was a great big experiment that turned out pretty well.

Are there times of the year that make you more nostalgic?  Or maybe its a song... a scent... a movie?
I'd love to hear your stories...

Oh the fall makes me nostalgic and emotional and it's hard to pin down exactly why...I think it's wonderful you keep your grandmother close to you this way.

I'm glad you joined us for tea today. I have missed you a LOT! I get sentimental at the drop of a hat. A saying, a thought, anything could trigger it. Love the vignette you created.

Hello! Nice to meet you...I am from the midwest also...Kansas. Your art work is wonderful and vintage...great idea using your grandmothers image in so many different projects. That would be a good thing for someone like me who can never make a decision.

Beautiful first photo Halle, such a lovely atmosphere you captured in that shot.
I can understand why you like to use that image of your Grandmother, she looks wonderful! Mx

So many things bring back memories for me, and I get very teary eyed easily sometimes. When we go on trips we sometimes visit the old places where family lived. My husbands memory is better than mine. We should write things down before we forget them altogether. That's what my mother did for us...memories from my dad and her. It's wonderful to read them sometimes.

Beautiful art! There are some things that bring back memories....like the smell of a garage. My grandpa had his own and I used to hang out with him all the time there. So when I get that smell I really miss him. Just little things like that happen all the time to make me think of someone that has passed.

Guess that sounded silly when I said he had his own garage....I should of specified body shop. He fixed up vehicles for a living! :)

Your mementos of your grandmother are so precious .... And the art in her honor ... I miss both my grans around this time of year too ... So much of anything I have that is special for the table is from them. So maybe that's part of it .....

I like what you have done with the lovely photo :)
I think music does it for me and fall is a particularly sentimental time.

oh Halle I'd better not get started on my sentimental journeys
I certainly agree about the holidays being an extra emotional time...birthdays...anniversaries too

Your tea in spirit with your grandmother is so sweet and touching
She was a lovely lady and must always be smiling down on you...maybe not as far away as we tend to think either

I am trying to catch up on what I missed while we were traveling and unplugged
You take care...I am convinced that letting emotions out is a very healthy thing :)
