Tea Tuesday

I wanted something special this week since this will be my first Thanksgiving without my dad, so I borrowed this set from my mom.

This is one of my favorites from Dad's collection.  His collection focused on sets with scenery on them.
He was always on the look out for a nice scene but of course, would surprise Mom with a delicate floral set when he found one.

I love the thistles framing the scene, the scalloped edge and the handle. Drinking tea from this cup makes me sit up a little straighter and cross my legs at my ankles. Granted, this is not my usual style..I'm more of a curl up in a chair and sip from a steamy mug kind of gal but it's good to be "ladylike" every once in a while.

My parents have a very large tea cup and saucer collection. The funny thing was that they both had collections BEFORE they even met.  I'm sure you'll be seeing more of their collection...

Stop by Kimmie's blog to see what the rest of the Tea Tuesday gang is up to today.

Beautiful cup Halle, I don't think that I have ever seen this pattern. I will have to look into the series, they look really pretty. Happy day to you, and through the week! Christen

I just Love the story about your parents tea cup collecting ... shared that with our youngest son...just too sweet and special. I have never seen a pretty cup like the thistle cup and a scene too...really special! I look forward to seeing lots from the collection.
There is a tradition in some cultures where they set a place at family gatherings where no one sits...its there for all those that cannot not really be there.
Hope you feel your dear father close to you Halle ... I like to think of my Dad just on the other side of the veil watching over us all.

p.s. Love that you showed the bottom of the cup I'm one of those that likes to check that out ;)

WOW, Halle. I'm totally impressed. This is one impressive cup and saucer. Love it from EVERY angle. And the story about your dad and mom both collecting tea cups before they met, shows how much they were made for each other. Happy Tea Tuesday, even though I'm a bit late!
